Just found this group.
When I enlisted in the Brit army ('75) , we had the LMG; the first one I fired had "Bren Mk III" struck through on it's side and L1A1 imposed.... It had the drum sight! %20;D
As I was 6 foot and heaftly built, guess who was No. 1 of the gun group?
I loved the Bren (as we stilled called it!), a lovely gun, a pleasure to fire.
I still fired it when I demobbed in '87.

the L1A1 being the SLR , the 7.62 Bren being the L4 series. Never fitted with a drum sight though , only the flip up leaf sight.
