I fear I'm missing something. I'm trying to remove the rear sight from my MK1 m (I think).
I removed the split pin, undid the castle nut, took off the drum and then removed the grub screw. I'm now guessing the assy should slide up out of the dovetail. Where it all falls down is it wont move.
Any ideas? Am I right it should slide up and out?
Cheers

A LARGE PERSUADER!
fear not... i believe you have removed all the necessary bits, as you said it should just come apart, the only thing stopping it in my opinion, sixty odd years worth of something!
i could be wrong, but i got mine off, eventually.
did you put any oil down the dovetail, that may assist.
just be careful that whatever you use doesn't slip any dent the thin bit with the numbers etched into it. don't you just love my terminology?
you may want to wait until, someone with more expertise answers? (AND RIGHT ON QUEUE, KEVIN SAVES THE DAY. I CAN'T TYPE THAT FAST!)
good luck.
regards,
GaRy:)

I got him in the end! Thanks to the both of you... I was also worried about slipping and messing the whole thing up.
Now I have it off I feel the urge to refit it... what fun!
Its now refitted and with a little oil the whole action feels much better as well as being much easyer to remove and replace.
Thanks again

The bigger the doubt, the bigger the hammer! BTW - talking of Mk1 rear sights. I have a few spare assemblies if anybody has buggered theirs.
