On the lower slide of my mk2, there is quite alot of corrosion which I would like to tidy up, but I don't really know what to do to it. I went to a shot blasters today, but they told me the finish would be very coarse and not really the right type of finish for the slide. Any ideas on what I can do/have done to it to sort it out a little? Ollie

Ollie, looks like your Inglis MK2 lower is in fact an Enfield MK3 lower. If having a miss matched upper and lower is going to bother you it may pay to forget the lower you have now.

Oh, can't say I knew that! Just out of interest, how do the two parts differ? I have the stamped number on the rear of the lower if that would help to identify it more: PE 4(either a 4 or a cross?)5337 then elsewhere there is NT-38.
In which case, anyone got a good condition Inglis Mk2 lower they wish to sell/trade for a Enfield Mk3 Lower?

I just happen to have a mk2 lower and require a mk3!
The mk3 lower has a noticable portion of the 2 parts either side of the sliding cover removed between the trigger guard and front tripod mount. It also has a long section of the mating flanges machined away (The bit that slides into the receiver body)
The mk2 has simpler machining around the change lever and trigger keeper pins giving it a slab sided look, where as the mk3 is contoured and has smoother lines.

Ah yes, I can see on mine now how its rounder and smoother in places, thanks for letting me know the differences between the two, I would have never have thought to check there was even such as thing as a different lower between Mks! Re: your Mk2 lower, PM dispatched

Differences as per what Britplumber has mentioned plus the MK2 has a much smaller diameter pistol grip bolt ,the MK1 & 3 having a large diameter pistol grip bolt (as per your picture)
If you are going to change your lower to a MK2 there are also differences in these .An inglis MK2 lower is nothing like a Monotype MK2 lower !

Identifying MK2 sliding butt groups. Inglis and Monotype Mk2's will both have small diameter pistiol grip bolts. Below are pics that will show the machining detail to tell the two apart at a quick glance. Hope this helps you sort out the correct type.
