Hello, I'd like to present myself. My name is Kris Michiels I'm 33 years old and I'm in the Belgian Army with the Engineers. My special interest goes to the "Belgian Brigade". It was formed in the UK during WW II and the fought in Normandy in August 1944. The collaborated with the 6the air-born Division at Sallenelles, Franceville, Deauville, ... This summer there will be a new part of the museum at the Merville Battery dedicated to the Brigade Piron (as they were called at the end of the war). I've been asked to help to create the exposition. I get all the possible support of the veterans who are very pleased. I have a question concerning the BREN MK1. It might be possible that this topic has already been handled... I've bought a BREN MK1 made in 1943. Nothing special but this one has a MK2 butt and legs (?) I'd like to know if its a reglementary piece. There is no way to find out in Belgium. I've studied several photographs (all dated 1944).
I hope I can receive some answers due to this topic.
Greetings little Belgium Kris

Hi Kris ,welcome to the forum. Your Bren wouldn't have left the factory with a MK2 butt and bipod , but if either item needed replacing during service the MK2 parts would have been perfectly acceptable.
Sounds like you have a very interesting project !
Regards Kevin
