First of all, may I say that I don't usually join a forum just to advertise, so this is a first for me. I am having a clearout of several items, however, and this Bren is one of them.
Bren Mk 2 Light Machine Gun. Serial number 10T6183 Made in Canada (Inglis) 1943
There is a deactivation certificate DA4897 and the gun was deactivated by Priest Firearms in Kent in 1990. As can be seen, the gun is in good condition (considering that it is 55 years old!) It was bought when I had a military Land Rover, for display purposes and always kept clean and dry. The gun strips and the action will ‘cock’ and ‘fire’. The top handle moves as does the barrel lock and bipod. There is one magazine included. The deactivation involves the barrel being welded inside the action so that it cannot be fired. The barrel does not appear to be removable, but this may be because I don’t know how.
There is also a short canvas cover that is unused and still in it’s original brown paper wrapping in ‘as new’ condition.
As the complete weapon weighs aprox 10kg, it will be quite expensive to send so I should prefer a pick up. I am based in South Yorkshire near Barnsley. However if the buyer wishes to pay for post and package, it will cost £18.00 and will be well protected with bubble wrap and cardboard. It will be insured and compensation to £250 is included in this price, 2-3 days delivery by Parcel Force. I would send the gun partially stripped to make the parcel size smaller unless the buyer does not wish for this.
I intend putting this on Ebay tomorrow as I feel that someone who can be bothered to join and participate in a forum would probably appreciate th gun a bit more. I am looking for £200 with all bits included, but postage would be extra.
I have several pics should anyone wish to see. please email me for details.
Thanks. Alan
