I'm looking for a Mk1 (around 1943 vintage) bren barrel to go as part of the spares kit for my bren.
If anyone has one they are willing to part with can you let me know please.
I'm in the UK so I guess I need a deactivated one even though its just a spare?
Cheers

I'm in the UK so I guess I need a deactivated one even though its just a spare? Cheers I have just spoken to Chris at Helston Gun Smiths and UK law doesn't allow for a deactivated barrel! Basicaly you can't own a spare barrel without holding a FAC... On the other hand, I may be able to help. I'm currently looking into making reproduction barrels. I have a Mk2 barrel on my bren that I'm going to try and copy. So Mk2 reproductions will be on offer for spares boxes.... These will not have a bore or rifling, just a 8x25mm at the front and 15x40mm at the breech end! So if you have a MK1, I will need the full dimensions of the Mk1 barrel or in your case a Bren to take mesurements from, Unless you know someone who can do me full CAD drawings of the barrel?

Hi thanks for the offer, nothings easy is it. If its a case of having to have them made then I can do that myself and it will give me something else to do of an evening. I can have the alloy part cast quite easy and machine a barrel blank up myself. I would just need to buy a handle then.
Thanks for your reply. lol would of been so easy just to buy an old one lol.

How do the Mk2's differ from the Mk1's? If they are all the same then I dont see why we can't do something. I will have a word with the lads.

Hello, Sadly as I have pointed out no barrels unless you have a FAC. As for the breach block, if you don't have a UK FAC you will be reduced to a reproduction type or a deactiveated one.... If I had access to the alloy castings I could make some repro barrels. Basicaly they won't have a bore? But I'm waiting for someone in Germany to give me the CAD drawings for the MK1 and Mk2 barrels so I can make some...

Hi If anyone is making spare Bren Barrels Mk1 or Mk2 I`d be interested in buying one. Thx It would help if you amended your location? As I have said in the above message, If someone had the alloy castings and I had the CADs, It wouldn't be much of a problem...
