This is a subject I know little about so I would be grateful if anyone can add anything to this post. The original method of carriage for the 225 round 7.92 belts was a sturdy ZB37 type ammunition box which was illustrated in the Besa Supplement to the Instructions for Armourers 1931, see below. This was soon superseded by a disposable liner as seen in this page from the armaments section of a mid war tank handbook. It was packed in pairs in the wooden H.29 crate At some point this quite elaborate liner was replaced by the simplified one shown below. This type was used until the withdrawal* of the Besa in the early 1960s, along with the last Churchill based Funnies they were mounted on. Although belts were factory filled, 7.92mm was available in 15 round cartons. These were no doubt more commonly used with the 7.92mm Brens and to supply the various Resistance movements using weapons of that calibre. The below was supplied with the original 15 rounds which where made inert for me (Cheers D!). More info on this subject would be greatly appreciated Tom * I prefer "withdrawl" but herself has promised mutilation if I use it...

Yours is not a PA like mine by any chance? My spelling and grammar are severely criticised if I send any message out with a mistake!

Could anyone with access to Besa Belt liners please take a photo of any labels on them and measure them for me?
Thanks
Tom
