Tool, removing, jammed cartridge case, 7.92-mm. M.G., Mk. 1 Part No. MG 21A D.D.(E.) 3850 dated 24/08/1944 was introduced in List of Changes entry C 1030 of July 1945. I have to get this LoC from the Armouries library next visit and update this thread then. There is a illustration of this decvice in the 1949 Parts List (see below) and a Amendment dated Febuary 1952 adding the Tool, removing, jammed cartridge case, 7.92-mm. M.G., Mk. 1/1 Part No. MG 70A. The only differance between the two is the Wedge, the handle at the back, on the Mk. 1 it has a part number of MG 4048, on the Mk. 1/1 MG 4472. The latter part is not illustrated. The example in my collection, shown below clutching a 7.92 case, has a slightly different shaped wedge so one could assume that it is a Mk. 1/1, especially since it is dated 1953 However on the wedge itself is clearly stamped. LANE LTD. 1953 /I\ M.G. 21A hence my labelling it a Mk. 1.... Hopefully the DD(E) will show the later version and clarify this point. There is another D.D.(E.) drawing held at Leeds that shows a totally different design of Tool, removing, Jammed cartridge cases B.E.S.A. 7.92 mm M.G. dated 17/02/1943 so the problem of cases being stuck in the chamber was obviously a very long running one. The block on a Besa slams forward in a very positive manner, to say the least, hence the issuing of a half power, copper plated, return spring to reduce the number of drill rounds chewed up in training. Any other information on this tool would be gratefully received ATB Tom

That's a pretty cool tool, it's the first time I've seen such a complex cartridge remover.

Mike Priest had (may have gone of course) just one more of them if anyone else is after Besa stuff.
Still no Brushes, anywhere.
