Well, I'm looking to buy either an original (unlikely) or preferably a reproduction thread protector for my WW1 Vickers. Now, I've already got a repro hose and "belt, box, ammunition carrier" from Machine Gun Nest Uk and did have an order with them for a thread protector. However, after much umming and ahhing they've finally realised that their supplier isn't coming good on them for this part of the order, and are giving me a refund . So now I'm trying to source one elsewhere. I've seen a couple of other people who have them for sale at £41.80 each, but they have no way to contact them (and I really like to talk to people before I buy from them). Anyone know of any other sources to buy one? Thanks in advance.

Andrew,
Those sold by thegunner.net @ £41.80 are, I think, the same as MGN ones but you can find out from Ian Durrant himself. His phone number is 01945 440289 - from his vickersgun.com website.
We must have a chat soon.

Thanks Rich, MGN contacted me shortly after I posted this message, and also recommended speaking to The Gunner (apparently only one of two dealers Richard Fisher recommends buying reproduction Vickers items from ) - turns out it was the same website I'd found searching on the web, I'd just managed to get into their ordering area which didn't have contact details. Email now sent, and fingers crossed for a better result this time!

Hang fire! I can almost certainly get you one of those reproductions for less than the retail asking price. Let me know if it's not too late...
