My gun has only a single return spring which always seemed a bit on the anaemic side so have avoided any firing. I only recently came to know (via Rich's manual) that there must be two springs ;D Now I know and must fix before firing it. Is any one out there able to supply me, and at what cost, with: a) an original set of return springs or b) an original inrer spring (the longer, thinner one) or c) specs for the springs so that I can get a set made up. Any help appreciated. Best regards to all my fellow Vickers lovers

In the absence of any info I have, in the meantime, clipped a set of FN-FAL recoil springs (the FAL uses a similar arrangement albeit located differently) to the same approx. lengths as shown in the various diagrams and they feel about right. Just waiting for the barrel to be straightened in the next week or so and then heading for the range. Much excitement welling in my breast but a pity I don't have authentic LRDG wheels to mount it on.

Sadly, I only have one spring in my deactivated K gun so couldn't help you but I wish you the best of luck getting it running - what fun!

Thanks for checking Richard - it seems a common problem. I checked with our War Museum and they have three K guns - one is inaccesible on static display on a Hawker Hartebees aircraft and two in their SA store. The two in the store are in beaut condition (one appears unfired ) but both are missing their return springs. Strange!
