have been asked by a friend about a Mk II sten with a wooden but (similar in shape to No 4 rifle but). Unable to find anything out about it, why it was designed or when. Does anyone know anyhting about it.
NB it was not a MkV sten, definately a Mk II

I believe you are referring to the MKII sten made for the canadian air force where they affixed a Lee Enfield stock to the gun for use as a survival weapon for pilots.
From what I know it was not widely used but it did pass the drawing board and some were made or at least configured.
I'll try to see if I can find some pics, I know Peter Laidler refers to the gun in his book on the Sten.
If you dont have his book, I highly recommend getting it.

Mm Laidler book absolutely superb. Was talking to a colleague of his the other day who helped on the book and also heaped nothing but praise on it. Stens, less we hear about rumours on them, and more on facts, the better regarded they may become, in the context of their time. Regards Matt
