An alternative reason could have been printed in the paper. "Methane blast rocks town! A local resident, confined to a wheelchair, was tragically killed in a mysterious explosion earlier today. After a hearty breakfast of tripe & onions, black pudding, mushy peas and baked beans, the victim was being taken for a stroll and was seen to light a cigarette immediately prior to the explosion......" ;D
