If you are a reenactor, or a collector of UK deactivated firearms, please consider supporting this petition; petitions.pm.gov.uk/reenactment/The wording of the petition is as follows; As reenactors and collectors we find that our rights as responsible collectors of deactivated firearms is again being eroded. Re-enactors raise many thousands of pounds for veterans charities, and other good causes every year. We make sure our events are safe and comply with all Health and safety regulations. We are insured and members of organised groups and clubs. If re-enactors are banned from having deactivated firearms, a whole hobby will be wiped out, many hundred’s of businesses that supply uniform, kit, vehicles will close down, Thousands of hobbyists, model makers and visitors will no longer have the chance to see re-enactments in the open air. This proposed crime bill will effectively make criminals out of hundreds of thousands of law abiding people in the UK without a thought for their rights, just because of a few uneducated individuals wave imitation firearms in the streets.

This is another petition. It has a very good choice of words and a statistical arguement, petitions.pm.gov.uk/Deactivated/#detailThe wording reads: We call upon the Government to scrap plans to introduce legislation banning deactivated firearms. Not only are these historic items, but the Home Office's own experts have stated that a ban would be unnecessary, unfair and unproductive, and that the solution is to address the social root-causes of gun crime. The Home Office's own statistics show that reactivated firearms of the type to which the proposed ban would apply (pre-95 deactivation) were used in only 4 out of 11,084 offences (0.03%). Live handguns are already banned, the act of reactivating a deactivated firearm is already banned, and acquiring live replacement parts to reactivate a deactivated gun (namely the barrel, breechblock and firing pin) are already banned. Anyone who has access to these (illegal) components has already gained access to all of the parts necessary to make a live firearm. The only people the proposed ban on deactivated firearms would penalise are genuine collectors and historical re-enactors who have no intention of breaking the law.
