I have just found a Hotchkiss 'birds-foot' tripod spigot in a load of spares I have been looking through.
It consists of just the mounting eyes and the spigot upon which the 'birds-feet' actually go but no 'birds-feet' are included.
If anybody is interested then let me know and I will post a photo.
Thanks,
Richard

Following on from this, I just bought the repro pin off of IMA to fasion some sort of mount for the Vickers with this and found that it is cracked.
Question: Is the cradle aluminium? itis dated 1916 which seems a little early for aluminium gun parts to me but I could be very wrong.
Thanks,
Rich

Hi Richard
I can confirm that the yoke on the Hotchkiss tripod is aluminium. Although expensive, the metal was in fairly common use by WW1 (ie. the Lewis radiator fins, aeroplane parts, etc).

Thanks Rod. I was surprised that it was used on such a non-essential bit of equipment, unlike aeroplane parts, Lewis fins etc.
I am having it welded back together by somebody that does good aluminium welding. Sadly it will result in some of the markings being oblitterated but better than nothing.

Hi, Wanna help. If anyone interested I'm selling the craddle of the Hotchkiss tripod (see pictures). It is marked CB&S 1916. The two clips are in iron or steel: I've seen some in brass. Unfortunately one of the holding forks is broken and I do not have the missing part. Despite this, the gun is in any way hold by the clip. Let me know. Luc
