I'm building a Hotchkiss LMG bipod here in the States and have only come up with fuzzy pics that don't give any detail. I have the US manual for the Benet Mercie but still not detailed enough. Anyone with a 1909 hotchkiss bipod willing to send a few close up pics of the real thing? and measurements? I have pretty much found all that there is on the net, but I assume there is a wealth of 1909 photos out there.... a confession ....Yes, I am converting an IMA portative to a US Benet Mercie. Have a BM stock and the temptation is overwhelming especially as I am in a living history group doing Mexican border 1916ish portrayal. It's a pretty straightforward conversion, lots of detail changes (some of which will be done and some ignored, but overall not overwhelming. I have a prototype bipod that works and from a little distance looks right except for the bulges where the separator blades go in the legs. Still working on that little problem. Of course, if there is an actual spare Hotchkiss bipod out there I am willing to buy and throw in the portative tripod as part of the deal if interested.

How did your project turn out? I am interested in doing the same thing.
