You've gotta love the Russians! The Solokov mount weighs a ton! I bought one of these when the first batch came from Russia. I got the shock of my life when I saw the storage box the Solokov came in. Mind you, I wasn't as shocked as the delivery chap who had to lift it off the van!! The box is wonderfully made from a good inch think pine (?) Mine came with 12 ammo cans and belts. That should see me OK for 3000 rounds ;D
Slightly off topic, does anyone know if any more guns are coming out off Russia? Because prices of Germans gun over here are very high I was hoping a large batch of MP40's would come over! I like the gun but I'm not paying £2000+ for one!

I think the £2000 would be old spec. The new spec MP40's I've seen are going for £800. I have seen a MP41 for sale.
Heres the blurb.
Made by C.G. Haenel, Suhl Pre Oct 95 moving parts, can strip down. Nazi markings, supplied with Nazi marked magazine (one only avaliable). Condition good. Price £475.00 + £10.00 p&p

Can I enquire please where you sourced your Russian Maxim from in the US.
I was under the impression that the only source in the States was IMA who sell ex-Finish Army Maxims.
I was wondering if this company also sell any accessories for these weapons.

Allegheny Arsenal a la Mg34 was the larger supplier of kits and parts for the last 2 years on the east coast, in the first batch they released, for 350.00, each part was ser # matched and they had the extra bolts sub lettered to the gun for 30.00 each, these were Finish capture guns, total w/ mount was 635.00 ups delv.....the ones from IMI were a different, earlier model and did not have the rebuilding, capture marks nor were they anywhere near as "clean", my kit did have a patch in the water jacket from a round and the shield was bullet dinged, sold for the same price, most of the state side kits have dried up because there is a approval from our ATF to allow internal work and get the gun to run in a semi auto only, there seems to be a lot of belts, mounts, gunners kits and accos. still around, with more showing up as time goes on...there are still mis matched kits around but the price is going up....one vender even has the Maxim belts loaded with WW II ammo...in a print ad www.shotgunnews.com vol. 59 issue 33 page 178 is a parts listing from Allegeny ......Gary Cole is a small importer who has Maxim parts listed at his web site or at www.1919a4.com/ under miscellaneous for sale the rare accessory here is the loading machine for the Maxim metal belts any leads on one of these ?.... www.Mg34.com/www.coledistributing.com/

Are you saying that Gary Cole has belt loading machines or you want one. The wording on his web site seems a bit confusing and I can't work out if he is advertising just the belts or the loading machines as well.
The metal belts are of course used on other Russian machine guns so unless you found one for cloth belts (if there is a difference), you could not be sure that it was a 100% Maxim example.
Things available over here are the gunners kits minus the knife for the string and the tool to stretch the belt pockets, ammo boxes with metal belts, Oil Cans, and action covers.
From the US I have sourced cloth belts, and spare barrel covers (if correct).
If you see any other interesting parts being advertised over there I would be interested to know.

Hi guys Does the Russian Maxim use the same metal belt as the SGM, PKM etc? If so there are a few belt loaders over here. Mine I got from some guys in Angola who didn't need it any more and I know others came out too. I could try and source more if needed.

I would be interested in one the belt loaders for my collection. Are they a conventional loading machine or a hand loading device?

Peter
I may be interested too depending obviously on price and what they look like.
Proving we are talking about 7.62mm Russian caliber, the metal belts should be the same.
