This is an interesting thread for those anoraks who wish to identify war-time and post-war production Maxim/SG43 metal belts.

Quite how many Russian Maxims saw service before the end of the war with metal belts is questionable. If anyone has any photo sources I would be interested to know. Also if anyone has one of these early belts.
A Russian source has suggested that they only got rid of their cloth belts from storage during the 1980's. Unfortunately all the belt loading machines probably got scrapped at the same time.
