Found this link whilst reading through Japanese weapon articles on the web.

The Chinese manufactured ZBs in the Taiyuan Arsenal in the Shansi Province. When the arsenal was captured by the Japanese they continued production of ZB26's but in 6.5mm cal. (This would be the 6.5x50 semi-rimmed Arisaka cartridge)
Apparently Mukden Arsenal in Japanese controlled Manchuria also manufactured ZBs, and the photo shown on the website is one such gun.
