I have a nice new spec deactivated SLR L1A1 with wooden stocks for sale, rifle is dated 1963 and i think it was made in or sold to Australia, comes with sling. £320 contact me on deadmaximgunner@hotmail.com

If you post the details of the serial number or the markings on the rifle I'll let you know who and when the rifle was made. Or even better a pic of the rifle or a link to a pic.

Rifle no is AD6219642, im sure that it was made in 1962, i will try and get a picture on here.

Its an Australian model made in 1962.
The 'A' in the serial number stands for Austrlia (I think, or did we discount that idea) and the D is probably a city (anybody?) the 62 is definatly 1962 though.
The Brit L1's were in the format of
UE62A12345 which is United Kingdom, Enfield,1962. serial A12345. UB59A12345 which is United Kingdom, BSA, 1959. Serial A12345. UT60A12345 which is United Kingdom, Theale, 1960. Serial A12345. (I think its Theale???)

Just re-read an earlier post and its beleived the AD stands for Australian Defence.
