Hi there all! Could anyone let me know please where I could purchase an SLR L1A1 instruction manual that was issued with the rifle from the factory ( if that was how issued) or otherwise if not available could anyone recommend another book/pamphlet of improvements, dissassembly and so on or printed for the Australian military armourers for repair, parts ,improvements, dissassembly and so on for SLR L1A1 except the Ian Skennerton book "SLR - Australias FN FAL"version ( which I have) Thankyou in advance for any help! Jeffro ( Australia)

There are 3 official Australian Army produced manuals for the Australian made L1A1 rifle. They are:- Infantry Training Volume 1, Infantry Platoon Weapons Pamphlet 3B. The 7.62-mm Self Loading Rifle and Bayonet (All Arms) 1961 (basically a copy of the 1959 British manual for the L1A1 rifle) Infantry Training Volume 1, Infantry Platoon Weapons Pamphlet 3B. The 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle and Bayonet and the 7.62 mm Automatic Rifle (All Arms) 1971 (completely Australian manual incorporating the L2A1 as well) Manual of Land Warfare, Part Two Infantry Training, Volume 4 Pamphlet No 5, The Self-Loading Rifle, 7.62 mm L1A1 and Automatic Rifle, 7.62 mm L2A1 (All Corps) 1983 The original manuals do come up on eBay from time to time, but if your just looking for a 'working' manual then I suggest one of the 1983 MLW manual reprints that were done in the US, as it has the latest information in it at a fraction of the cost. If you want to also know about how to factory assemble and disassemble then I suggest you also get the copies of the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Technical Brochure and Technical Brochure Supplements. At one stage some people were selling all three reprints for a reasonable price.

Hi just checking my mail etc from a library in Wales, (on holiday).
When I get home I'll sort out some scanned L1A1 docs I have. I have a real copy of the Aussie handbook and can scan that in as well easy enough.
Drop us a line at tombear@btopenworld.com
