Just a quick question please! On the SLR L1A1 - is the metric top mount dust cover the same as the inch equivalent?? Any special fitting involved if not?? Thanks guys on advance!! Jeffro (Australia)  |

Hi Jeff
The metric FAL top mount dust cover will fit straight on to the L1A1. The secret to getting good accuraccy is to make sure that the cover is a very firm fit. Thhis can be achieved by springing the bottom edges out slightly by pushing it down on a piece of 2" pipe. It is also sometime neccessary to have a packing piece at one end to prevent any longitudinal movement. I usually put a small dot of weld at the front upper edge and file fit it so the action can be easily closed without any movement in the cover. Incidently, my FAL factory sniper with the trajectory compensating Hensoldt scope that FN had made, will shoot 3/4" groups all day! ;D
