Gents, Some of you may be interested in seeing what some of my collection was used for at the weekend. I took down two guns and section and platoon HQ stores for approximately 20 living historians (including myself) to work with and portray the 12th Bn Devonshire Regiment (part of 6th Airlanding Brigade, 6th Airborne Division) prior to their embarkation to Normandy, 1944, as part of Operation Overlord. The weekend concentrated on elimentary gun drill, including some timed tests and I was impressed to see that we were not too far off the 1944 requirement after only 10 hours training. This is an excellent way to get more people 'exposed' to the use of the MMG in the British Army and I hope it takes place a lot more. The photos are available to view at: s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee168/livinghistory/COAM%20May%202008/The units that provided the resource for the weekend are: VERA (http://www.vera.org.uk), the 2nd Devons (http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/2nddevons) and 1st Airborne Recce (http://www.living-history.org.uk/recce/). Many thanks to all that took part. Regards Richard
