I thought it would be published by now.
I hope nothing has gone wrong.

Sorry to reply to my own question, but I've gotten a response from Mr. Laidler to an email I sent asking about the book.
He says that it's being edited at this time, so it looks like all systems are still "Go".

Thank you for posting that link.
I've got some of the books from Moose Lake Publishing/Small Arms Review, and they are all paperbound. I don't know the correct name for the type of paper, but it is the non-glossy thick type.
Photographs are adequate, but not anything to write home about.
At this point, I will be happy to get a copy in any format, but I was really hoping that the new book would be hardbound with glossy stock paper for the picture quality. Something like Collector Grade Publications' books would be perfect.
No word on Moose Lake Publishing's website, yet.

I have just received a message from Moose Lake Publishing advising that Peter's Bren book is scheduled for publication in a hard-back edition. ;D

That's very good news. Did they give any estimate on the publication date?

Dan Shea (SAR) is usually at Beltring,I'll see if I can catch up with him at the beer tent and see if he can give a rough idea of what year it will eventually be published.

From Peter Laidler -
It's away at the publishers and has been for over a year. The trouble is that it's a monster tome of 236,000words with colour-in pictures and loads of joined-up writing. BUT here's what I'd like you all to do. Contact the senior editor of Small Arms Review and ask him.
Send an Email to Robert Segel, Senior Editor of Small Arms Review Email address: emmageeman@aol.com

Done!
I had sent an inquiry to Moose Lake Publishing 2 weeks ago, to their general "contact us" email address, but received no reply.
Maybe Mr. Segel will have a date for us.

I've received a response!
Mr. Segel says that the book is still in the works.
There's no final timeline for publication, but they are hoping for sometime later next year.

Posted on the 'Milsurps' forum; 24/12/2009:
"Peter Laidler has accessed the whole Bren archive and pictorial library plus their magnificent collection of fully serviceable and operational Bren Guns at the Small Arms School and as a result, has written the whole 'warts an' all story of the the Bren from the first note from Major Oxley, the Military Attache in Prague (where it was undergoing trials with the Hungarian Army) to the last guns being withdrawn from front line service in February 2002. Astonishingly, a further 6 guns were found, oiled up and still in working order in a secure store 2 years ago.
The whole 260,000 word story plus never before seen archive photographs, flow charts and line drawings are in the process of being published by Small Arms Review as we speak".
Hopefully this is accurate - I'll certainly be wanting a copy.

perhaps we all need to bombard the editor with emails to the point where he thinks "Wow, this book will earn me a fortune, get it to print"!!!!!!
