Someone there asked me about one a while back. I can't remember who it was now. I just threw this one on the page in case they were looking. It would cost a king's ransom to send it.

Here is the beginning of the conquest of the dreaded front sight area. I've given some thought to it and the only way to avoid the milling machine is to "stick build" this tough spot. Here's how to do it. two strips of .400" X 1/4" stock or 10mm key stock will work. Since .400" isn't readily available I used a piece of 1/4X2" flat bar and sliced a .400 strip from it. The rest is easy enough to see. Plug welds will be used to attach the .400 strips the rest will be welded in the normal fashion and the upcomming pictures will show.

I used a different camera thus the blurred images. I'll do better next time.

Weld spot rivets and a top cover in the rough.

I hope these images give you some ideas on how to make the replica build come together. Alot of work my friends but it can be done by hand.

Hey Mike, I love your barbeque! Just thinking about all the steak and beer required to do it justice is making my mouth water! ;D

I'll post pictures of the culinary feast soon. It'll take a sharp knife to carve the fifty!

Here is an effort to make a pair of grip frames. The washers are 1" slugs punched from 3/16ths plate then punched again for a 5/8ths hole in the center of the 1" slug. Then we'll weld them to the C shaped frames that were cut from 3/16ths plate.

Next project, A .50 water cooled M2. I think. I need dimensions for the water jacket and fittings if any of you out there have any to share. The wc version was probably obsolete during the war but its an interesting version.

Nothing new. I haven,t lit a prye or sun bathed the beast. I stood it up in the corner of the shed and started on new side plates for the next project. I plan to finish the park tank first so a nice finish can be applied to the next replica. There may be a better market for parkerizing than for replicas! I'll keep you posted. Mike

Hi Mike,
Just thought I'd let you know that your handwork has inspired me to be a little more brave with metal work. I'm rebuilding (albeit with help) a replica blank-firing Mk V Sten at the moment and I can't get the images you've posted out of my head. I'm rubbish with most practical things but the comments you've made about time and patience are really holding true!
Thanks again for your posts. You've personally taken this forum to a different level - from the academic to the practical.
Many thanks,
Richard
