Bren telescopic sight mount still forsale, it was removed by e-bay, who knows why considering there are 67 other telescopic sights with mounts on e-bay this morning. No doubt most people interested in bren stuff will have seen it, but I can e-mail photos to anyone interested. contact on bill.oakes@bowbin.demon.co.uk

Ebay have just pulled a wooden pistol grip that I had for sale.Makes you wonder the mentality of the sort of people that report such harmless items

I notice the scope rings are a see through design.
Would this have been to permit dual use with normal iron sights on a double dovetail receiver, or were the scope rings simply an existing design that was pressed into use?

One point, isn't the dovetail on the Bren a "universal" fitting, the same as the dovetail on the Vickers, planned Lightened Besa etc?

missing something.you could always remove the rear sight like the one in the photo as the dovetail is the same Tom do some of the small mortars also share the dovetail along with the Vickers etc. Not sure of the design of the mount as I believe it to be fabricated of plate steel ? One knock and zero is lost ! Much nicer if someone could cast one .....only downside is the original drawings for the scopes are a hell of allot more complicated

Indeed you are right Kev, theres a dovetail bracket on the Mk II* 2 inch Mortar as well. Theres also one on the 4.2" mortar but from the parts list I can't tell if it the same size.

Hi Everyone, I have just been talking to Sumb1 on the phone and as he is working away at the moment and cannot get on to the INTERNET at the moment because of his location he will answer all emails when he returns on the 27th of February.

The late-war 3" Mortar sight (the one with the range drum) fits perfectly in the Bren dovetail. So the dovetail system seems to have been pretty standard. Was it invented by the Czechs and adopted by the British Army, or vice versa?
