Looking like some good parts to play with, have you seen my thread on the M2AC cutaway I've just bought? Apparantly they are perfectly legal in the US (As judged bt BATF) because enough of the Right side plate is cutaway. Have you considered welding enough original parts together to make a cutaway model?

As a matter of fact I have and the ATF told me that if the cut away could conceivably fire one round whether it was safe or not would be considered in violation. I mentioned the fact that the bullet would probably not even leave the barrel as all the expanding gasses and case fragments would be imbedded in the fool's face and neck that tried to shoot it. They told me not to build one unless it was welded immovable. I would like to build a cut away but I hate to make one that you couldn't have realistically moving parts in. I'll have to talk to them again about this. I have plenty enough parts to make one with.

Hi Mike, I found the ref. to ATF on M2HB.net which I see your a member (http://www.m2hb.net/m2phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1996&hilit=cutaway) the poster there had a cutaway with emails from ATF to state it was legal. I'm really likeing the SKN or Cutaway models of all models. I've recently got a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk1* SKN model to go with my Bren SKNs and now the M2 will fit nicely.

I began working on a hand build the other day and this one will be a HB model. So far the toughest challenge is the barrel with all its steps and a taper. I'll be posting pictures later on today or tomorrow. Stay tuned!
