DD(E) 2331 that you passed on Tom shows the MKI version with the clamping bolt,(pic below) though it is not illustrated in the BGS MKI drum mag diagram.

Am I right in thinking that for the Mk II you hve to remove the barrel to fit the adapter?, not having one I've never had a chance to try.... snif
But, from the design would a MkI go on a current spec deac?
Apart from aquiring some drawings I know zip about mags I'm affraid.

The barrel needs to be removed on both MK's to fit the adaptor as per insructions. One way round it is to spead the legs to enable them to locate....only trouble with this method is you cant clamp them up tight again once they are fitted The best way is to remove the pins that hold the barrel handle sleeve detent and pull the barrel handle sleeve forward. The adaptor will now go over the barrel and slide into the location grooves on the side of the receiver. The adaptor can now be positioned with the hole located over the mag cover detent (having removed the cover)and the sprung top plate and split pin can be fitted to retain the adaptor ;D

B*m! I was hoping that you could strip the nut etc off the Mk I and slip the rest over the barrel then some how reasemble the thing in situ.
Ah well, whishful thinking.
Cheers Kev!

Tom,the MKI variety with the nut and bolt would be ideal as after the legs had been spread to get them on, the nut and bolt would pull them back into shape ;D Wasn't thinking about the MKI adaptor as I have only ever seen the MK2 variety for sale.Mind you it only requires a drill and a nut and bolt to alter to MKI spec MK2 adaptor at Beltring was £25 I think,or was you going to do some metal bashing

I managed to miss them for 25 quid a pop, was probably sniffing some webbing at the time. If you see any for that at Stoneleigh point them out please!

Oi Kev! That bloody photo is just not fair mate! They look rather familiar.....!
Incidental info for our member gerolykos, the last set fo drums that sold that I know of went for a figure pretty similar to that quoted above. They were superb Mk1 drums in the box with adapter and winding handle and even the instruction sheet pasted to the lid of the box. And I want to ensure that the buyer knows I want first refusal if they come up for sale!!!! *wink wink nudge nudge*
Friendly Regards Matt Gibbs

Hope you don't mind, I modified the post so that the images showed up properly. Normal HTML doesn't work in the forum.
As to the picture, I know nothing about the mags but I recognise the pouch as one of the pouches that are for the Lewis gun mags but it is a nice one just the same.

Rich

Looks very strange ! Bottom of a Bren drum mag should look like this - seems odd that the projection for the mag catch isnt in line with the magazine well where it should be Have you got a sideways picture to see the depth of the insert for the mag feed ? I know vickers K drum mags have a shorter projection but not sure of the bottom plate construction .....anyone ?
