Chris, only have a MKI front or a MK2 LH rear left but if you still haven't found a front leg I will get another later on. Same applies to the rear leg screws but you may be out of luck there :-(

Hi,
Im new around here......Hello! and just purchased my first Bren tripod.
It is dated 11/39 and has a B stamped in a few places along with the WD arrow with a 29 inside the arrow legs and NZ along with a few other markings.
It is missing the AA legs and also the AA mount thingy on the front leg. Is there anyone out there who can make these parts? as I would like to use it for an AA display. Failing that I may part ex it for a complete mount...if I can find one.
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Paul Hampshire UK

Hi Paul, can you tell me the serial number, it will be a A prefix, and also the NZ number. New Zealand appear to converted lots of their Mk1s to Mk1* for some reason.

The tripod with the NZ^A marking would have been early in WW2 as the marking changed to N^Z about 1942. It was probably part of the Bren disposals which began in the 1970's, a lot of which wound up in the UK with dealers. Most of the tripods in the hands of NZ collectors are of the early type with the AA extensions.

I just got a Bren tripod BSA # I 5643 1942 date with clip holes. Is this a MK1* or a MK2? No AA leg no SMLE slot. Where can I get the clips for the butt grip? It is decent but painted all black or coated with something black. cleaned it all off and going to repaint it the green color I found under the quadrant. Will present well when done.

Allot of the I serial numbered tripods still have the holes for the butt handle clips,The tripods I have seen with an I serial number have been MK2's but britplumber collates tripod serial numbers so he may be able to give a better answer. You can get a set of repro butt grip handles clips here - www.bren-gun.com (a bit of unashamed self publicity !) £25 inc P&P to UK. ATB Kevin

Hi Fredwc, I actualy already have your tripod on my list, it was on ebay.us a while back for $300, Is that where you got it from? I can confirm that your tripod is a Mk1* with the adjustable (But no AA mount) front leg.
Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris, thank you for the information. Yes I got it off eBay from a man in Slidell Louisiana. He said he bought it from IMA in 2002 and just stored it. It has been restored now to a correct color and function. It looks good and works properly now. It did come all apart fairly easily including the pins on the fittings.

Hello all, is there a part number for a BSA tripod complete? A "C" number? I am planning on making a transit chest for it to match the other ones I have for the Vickers and Bren and the Vickers tripod case. Thank you for any help,
Fred C in Reno, NV. USA

I'm looking for any, and I mean any, info on Bren Tripods. Theres very little in the BGS, I know the versions but not Quantaties. Who were the makers, CCM, AGE (What does AGE stand for?), BSA, any more? Colour? Markings? Any one with serial numbers? cheers, chris. p.s. Rod, what do you know about NZ tripods? One of my tripods has a N^Z serial number stamped on the head aswell as the Manufacturers number. Hi!
My Bren tripod is found on the Battlefield at Kvam (1940) in Norway some years ago. It is a little bit rusty, but in remarkable good condition, after more than 35 years in the forest. It have the legs for AA use, and mark of BSA. I have looking for the serial number but nor found. Where is it?

After looking to a photo posted here, I have removed some rust at the area where the AA legs is coneccted to the tripod. The number is: A 1438. and a small "38" is also stamped at the same place. This tripod is found on the old Battlefield in KVAM in NORWAY, and was left behind there in 1940. It is little bit rusty, but still in remarkable good condition. The legs for the AA was also there.
